This new airport terminal project which is one of the biggest investment in building in Mauritius has been the project which has bring Aluminium Facade Engineering Ltd under the leadership of Michael Athow to the next level of international know-how and technical competence in the consultancy services. We may say that the Architectural Aluminium and Glazing system has no secret for us even though there are always innovations and new concepts.
Working with International corporate multinational Louis Berger Group of Miami, Florida branch of USA on the technical onsite management of this massive project in Mauritius has been the passport to provide professional consultancy services to any other building envelope project of same aspect and size.
Now AFEL is proud to say that the capability to handle this level of technical requirement and know-how is mainly due to the continuous followup of the AAAMSA guidelines and principles over the last fifteen years and good work ethic in the industry.

This was a very challenging project for Michael Athow as after only five years in the Aluminium and Glass industry using AAAMSA guidelines, he was approached by Grinaker-LTA Facades to manufacture and install the BOM curtain wall. The BOM project is a 24 floors building and one of the highest in Mauritius. This high standard curtain-wall project has been the trigger for Michael Athow to reach an international technical knowledge in the Aluminium and Glass Facades environment.
It has been a great experience to work in collaboration with International companies such as Group Five Ltd of South Africa, Grinaker-LTA Facades and Arup Facade Engineering Ltd in Johannesburg branch, South Africa where a Mauritian has been able to not only execute a high specs work but also share his technical know-how in the Aluminium and Glass products.
The peak outcome in doing this BOM curtain-wall project was the full size curtain-wall testing done and supervised by Michael Athow in the Al-Futtaim Bodycote Materials Testing Services LLC in Dubai where the open testing laboratory for full size panels was an experience by itself. Those tests done in collaboration with Grinaker-LTA Facades and Arup Facade Engineering were witnessed by Mauritian companies such as General Construction Co Ltd (GCC), Servansingh Jadav & Partners Consulting Engineers Ltd (SJP) and Lampotang & Siew Architects (L&S).
